Diane was born in Santa Ana, California and returned with her parent's to their home state, and was raised in the college town of East Lansing, next to the state capitol of Michigan. Her happy childhood has been a source of wealth for Diane's writing, as she has numerous venues to draw upon, both humorous and heartwarming. Writing was one way she could best express her feelings that at times seemed to burst, if not placed on paper. During junior high one year she asked for a typewriter and started to write her stories and poems in typewritten form; and soon she had her first book of poetry. After graduating from business school and attending Florida College, Diane worked at Michigan State University as a secretary for several years until her husbands job took them out of the area. At this time Diane was offered a position as a newspaper reporter. She soon had her own weekly column as well as writing feature stories about local personalities, and covering hard news and current events. |

During the years when her children were in school, Diane stayed home to care for her growing family. However she continued to write, working on research for family history projects, as well as stringer work for area publications. By the early 90's all three of their children had graduated from high school and were attending college or working. Diane had begun to prepare for this time and she accepted a position doing freelance work for organizations in the greater Detroit area, which involved monthly publications. During this time Diane started an outreach called LAMB (Ladies Auxiliary-Mentoring Brothers) for volunteers at the Pontiac Rescue Mission where her husband was the Executive Director. She also counseled women going through abuse problems, set up programs for the residents with surrounding churches, as well as volunteering her time at the local Crisis Pregnancy Center as a counselor. Over the years the most rewarding times for Diane were centered on her family and their education, church and community activities. The family often dedicated their time to those in need, serving in a variety of capacities as well as their involvement in the Mission and its work. Diane's love for the Lord and His guidance in her life can be read in a number of inspirational stories, as well as in both books Diane has written. Her personal commitment to Jesus Christ and giving Him the credit for what she shares with her readers are Diane's main purpose. In 1997 Steve and Diane moved to South Carolina, where they began another phase of life and where Diane started an outreach called Seeds of Encouragement, a publication that went out to a number of churches. She also started sharing her stories across the World Wide Internet. In 2002 Diane wrote her first book, Beach Walks, which is a compilation of short stories, many which have been published in magazines, books and other literature. Diane completed her first book of fiction, Carolina in the Morning, and has finished a book Writer to Writer, in which she shares her experience in the field of writing with those who are considering this path. She is also doing research for her fourth book; Diane enjoys writing and from the response of readers, they are happy she does! |
